       Unit - 1  LISTENING 

*  Types of listening 

• listening is process which is used to understand  , speak , respond and many more . hence to hear with attentive mind we can easily understand and can able to give proper response ;  listening is very important part for good communication ,and hearing clearly help us to respond properly

→ There are such types of listening by which we can understand and interpret ; 

 the five types are :- 

  1st    APPRECIATIVE LISTENING 
 2nd  EMPATHETIC LISTENING 
 3rd  COMPREHENSIVE LISTENING 
 4th  CRITICAL LISTENING 
 5th SUPERFICIAL LISTENING 

 • Let's see in detail about the types of listening. 

1st  ➡ As it is first type of listing and in this type of listening the listener attends the incident with interest and listener attend for their pleasure filling  , people listen for the entertainment and aesthetic pleasure .
In this kind of listening the listener attempts the situation or paying intrest for their own aesthetic pleasure

(Eg) The people have appreciative listening ,  while attempting to comedian entertainer and  musician
➡ Hence this is appreciative listening 

2nd ➡. As it is second type of listening and in this type of listening ,  listener has to feel same emotion for speaker what they feel.

One has to feel same feeling of speaker and have to give support towards feeling of speaker , one has to appreciate the speaker 's opinion emotion and thoughts

(Eg) The nurse in hospital have a empathetic listening skills and that was why she can save the patients

➡Hence this is known as empethatic listening

3rd  ➡ the third type of listening is comprehensive listening ,  this type of listening also plays vital role in it ;  in this type of listening , listener use it for interpretation of the message and can understand it properly . 

One has to use this type of listening for interpret or evaluate the message for deep understanding about any topic or subject. 

(Eg) The student use this type of listening to interpret the message of teacher to comprehence the depth of solution of subject problem. 

➡  Hence this is known as comprehensive listening 

4th ➡  as it is fourth type of listening and in this type of listening ,  listener judge ,evaluate , interpret of speakers speech .       .if you need to analyse complex information you will need to use critical listening 

In this one listen the statement and give their judgement according to the knowledge . as it  is used for evaluation the nonverbal message and meaning of others 

(Eg) Us to salesman or politician 
➡  Hence this is known as critical listening 

5th ➡ it is the fifth in the last type of listening which is known as superficial listening and it also play major role towards listening in this type of listening one has to pretend to listen the speaker , when the listener wasn't interested on .
In this the listener gives fake expression to be attentive  in speaker's speech . Weather the listener was or wasn't interested on but for not offending the speaker listener pretend to be listen the speech . 

(Eg) A student give fake expression towards teacher in the class while boring lecture. 

➡ Hence this is known as superficial listening. 


Hence to conclude that the these are such type of listening .
